Secret Project... :.
A couple of close friends and myself are currently working on a top secret browser game. More information will be given out soon, but since you're loyal fans of UTS - I figured you'll all get beta access when it's available. I can tell you it involves creatures and an evil witch.
Beta information will be coming in a few months, but I'm currently coding a snazzy message board system for the game - once that's complete, we'll reveal all. Well... not all... but most.

VPN was released today! Go here to sign up today. Right now, the sign-up is glitching, so you'll need to click the Meteor Games logo in the upper left corner of the screen. This will turn out being your Meteor Games account, which will link to all of their products. Have fun!

Twin Skies site ba-leted... kinda... and more. :.
The Twin Skies site has been replaced with a splash image showcasing highlights of the game, and reassurance that our Achievements will carry over.
Adam said on the forums that VPN will hopefully be released today or tomorrow (Friday). Keep an eye out for it!

VPN to be released very, very, soon :.
Vikings Pirates and Ninja's was said to be released last Friday - but wasn't. We're guessing the game will hopefully be released sometime this coming week.
What does this have to do with Twin Skies? Well VPN is the very primitive form of what the Twin Skies game will look like.
Twin Skies will have less sylised characters (we will do our best to match the style of characters on the Twin Skies website), there will be combat (pve and pvp), a world you can walk around in and talk to people, more advanced quests and lots of really cool extra features that will make Twin Skies super special.
That said, the basics of trading, questing, sending messages, customising your character etc. are all there. We need people to try to break VPN and help us fix all the bugs so when we release Twin Skies it will work on all browsers, pcs/macs and generally be incredibly awesome.
Via Donna on the forums.

Vikings, Pirates, Ninjas! :.
Along with a newly-created VPN subboard, Donna has generously compiled preview images of some of the characters that we may be able to play as in the new upcoming game: Vikings, Pirates, Ninjas.

It seems as though all of you who have denied loyalty to either side of the age-old Pirate vs. Ninja dispute won't have to be called sissy healers anymore.
At least by me.

New Logo :.
Looks like Meteor Games has come up with a working logo for Twin Skies 2D. It's not set in stone, so feel free to go here to voice your opinion.

Achievements... :.
Latest news from Adam on Achievements being moved over to the new system:
I'm not sure *how* we'll carry the achievements over, but I'm 100% sure that the new game will have an achievement system, so we'll make it happen somehow.
If anybody is familiar with WoW they have "feats of strength" achievements that don't give points. If any of the old achievements don't fit with the new game then we could always do that.
If you don't play WoW, Feats of Strength are achievements that don't really count in your overall achievements, but as used more as "Bragging Rights", or showing how Old School you are.

Twin Skies Site Info :.
Well, it seems as of right now the Twin Skies website is forwarding us to the Meteor Games company site. Just letting everyone know that it's not your computers, and we're unsure of as to how long this change will be going on.
UPDATE: The Site is back to normal now. We have a message from Donna:
"Hi guys, As you have noticed the site is back up, sorry the maintenance took a little longer than expected.
After a lot of thought and discussion we have come up with a cunning plan. The last thing we want is to lose the awesome community spirit we have here, but as you know we want to make the website make more sense.
The Twin Skies website will be changed to more accurately reflect what we are working on and the Twin Skies forums will have a new home at www.meteorgames.com. We are aiming to keep all the messages and your log in details will remain the same. The main difference is that you will log in at www.meteorgames.com instead of www.twinskies.com. This won't be happening until the end of the week at the earliest. As soon as I know more accurately when we will be making this change I'll let you know.
Anyway I know some of you will be sad, but it seems to be the best solution so we stop confusing people, yet keep some of the TS community alive. This way we can still keep you all up to date with the office shenanigans (yes the Super Dudes will be posting updates more frequently soon).
Don't quote me on this, but I am pretty sure all your achievements and avatars will be carried over, I will get Adam to verify this as soon as possible."

Changes Soon? :.
If you go to the Twin Skies website right now, you will find this image...

Could this mean the changes we heard about at the beginning of the month will soon be here? We'll keep you updated.
You can go here to discuss it in our forums.

"A Slight Change of Plan" Abridged :.
A lot of excitement has been happening in the last few days, and it's clear the staff is bu-sy. Until an official news post is put up on the site, this should serve as a makeshift way to set the record straight. First and foremost, no matter what Massively.com or any other source is telling you, the 3D MMO isn't being dropped. it's only being postponed for the time being. Furthermore, for those of you who don't have the time to leaf through over fifty pages of the announcement thread, I've compiled some semi-paraphrased plot points and little tidbits mentioned by Adam and Donna.
• When you looked up at Stormia (in the prequel) you could see the meteors in the the relief of the planet much like the constellations in the sky. It's just like the man in the moon.
When the star hit Stormia and the planet erupted all the gods were driven away (which is what happens in Twin Skies 3D). The Templars are the evil priests that worship what remains of Stormia. Before that though they all lived in perfect harmony, so you'll definetely see priests all over the place in Twin Skies 2D, lots of different types of them too.
• The Kelpie is basically the image that Donna posted, the female Merfolk with the knives. Imagine a rogue/assassin type character that can swim at 300% speed through water, teleport short distances at will and vanish in a puff of smoke.
• You may find out what really happened on that dark day in the '78 Shoalimpics.
• Anything that's 3D-related will probably start to vanish off the site.
• The Avians are certainly in the story, but they most likely won't be playable.
• Twin Skies 3D will be started on as soon as it's financially viable, but there's really no telling when that'll be.
• The average lifespan of a Canopy Elf is 160 years.
• Rustwood isn't a forest in the 2D version. The story was that a [NAME OF 4TH PLAYER RACE CENSORED] Bracken planted a magic tree to help win a battle, so when the army rode up the next day their swords and armour rusted and they were defeated. Unfortunately another tree sprang up, and another, the king who had paid the Bracken didn't realise this was part of the deal, and soon the rust forest engulfed his home town and they were forced to leave.
• The Fourth Farm will be in the 2D prequel.
• Despite being free-to-play, they're planning on having no ads whatsoever, and support the game on microtransactions.
• Already said, but just to reiterate: nothing in the cash shop will give an advantage of any kind. It will be purely aesthetic.
• The moving controls will probably be WASD or click to move.
• The caption contest will be put on hold for a while, since they can no longer make 3D screenshots, but the other two contests will go on as usual.
• The forums are going to stay as-is for a long while.
• The Vikings aren't part of Twin Skies.

Update Hysteria :.
Adam has now decided to bring even more chaos among us by vomiting updates that the staff has apparently been keeping for the past few weeks. It's from the forum, though, because as I've learned from experience, news posts just take too darned long.
Firstly, brand new concept art and Merfolk class information:

"The sad thing was that we were just about to release the Merfolk Kelpie which was going to be my favourite class.
It's basically the image that Donna posted, the female Merfolk with the knives. Imagine a rogue/assassin type character that can swim at 300% speed through water, teleport short distances at will and vanish in a puff of smoke. Now I'm going to have to wait longer to play one." (link)
Secondly, some very interesting information on the time period of the 2D and 3D games:
"The Twin Skies 3D game will be set in the current time period, the one we've talked about on the site over the past months. Twin Skies 2D will be set a to-be-determined number of years in the past (probably around 30). ... You'll be able to change the way that the story of Twin Skies 3D is written... we may even give the players choices such as which player characters exist and which ones dont. Which towns were destroyed by the meteors and which were untouched."
To read the entire thread from start to end, click here. It's a lot to take in, so take your time and feel free to discuss on our forums.

Twin Skies Goes 2D! :.
Well, Adam let the cat out of the bag; the reason for the lack of news, the stillness in the air up until now. It's all because the 3D portion of the game is being dropped for now. Twin Skies--at least in the foreseeable future--will be completely 2D.
"Twin Skies is going to be in 2D, made in Flash and it's going to be free to play. It'll be the same world, the same monsters, the same Canopy Elves, Humans, Merfolk, Walrus Men, Bus Drivers etc., however it will be set in a different period of time, before the meteors struck and all the chaos started happening."
Furthermore, Twin Skies Tower Defense will be amended and updated in the future, and a new Virtual Pet site is also on its way to Meteor Games!
